Peeco's Belgians is a fourth generation family run farm that achieved century farm status in 2004. Horses have been an intregal part of the farm, from field work to chores for all of those years.

My Dad, Murray Peel, began to raise a few Belgians and show at local fairs in the 1960's and received his first PMU contract in 1973. He began showing and promoting our horses for the next 20 plus years at fairs across Canada, including the Toronto Royal and North American Belgian Championship shows.

With upgrades to facilities in the PMU industry, my family moved back to the farm in 1997 and we completed our new PMU barn that same year. We worked with my parents until 2003 when we took over sole operation of the farm and the PMU contract.

Peeco's Belgians is home to over 100 registered Belgians. We breed around 80 mares each year to 7 registered Belgian stallions. Our mares are generally replaced from within, keeping 8 - 10 fillies each year.

We buy the best stallions we can afford, keeping with modern bloodlines and type, but also prefer the horses we produce, to retain true draft qualities. In our breeding program, feet and legs are of utmost importance, with temperment close behind. We're striving for sound, good moving horses for today's market with sensible minds that are a pleasure to work with. We also keep a few young geldings around for hitch prospects that are always for sale. We show a small string of young horses at local fairs, the Manitoba Pennwoods Draft Horse Futurity and the Canadian Western Agribition and NAERIC Draft Horse Classic Sale.

Our foals are generally sold off the farm by private treaty. We also consign colts to select sales in the U.S. and Canada, and occasionally young horses as well.

Our horses have been sold and promoted by hitches across North America, and we are very proud of our animals. Please stop by for your inspection of our stock at any time as we are keen to sell you your next champion!

We also run a small band of select registered AQHA mares. Our program strives to breed well balanced individuals with good solid feet, correct conformation for durability, big hips for power and speed, and excellent minds for easy training. We offer our foals for sale through the 4-H Young Horse Developement Program and by private treaty here on the farm. These foals will be able to excel in the youth programs, make good all around trail or ranch horses with a personality to make a lasting friend.
